THE GAME
A first-person job simulator set in a 1950s repertory cinema. You're a substitute projectionist covering a late-night screening, 11pm to 4am. The job: run two carbon-arc projectors, swap reels and pull off the changeovers, keep the equipment alive and the audience happy — and hold it together as the night gets stranger. Everything is black and white. One run is about 8 minutes.
CONTROLS
WASD to move, mouse to look, E to interact. Some things use hold E — the on-screen prompt will tell you which. That's all you need.
HOW TO PLAY
There's no tutorial, and that's on purpose. The booth is meant to teach you through its own signals — sounds, lights, gauges, the screen. Pick things up, poke at the machines, follow what the room is telling you. If you're not sure what to do, that's fine. That's exactly what I'm trying to learn.
WHAT I'M ASKING FROM YOU
Think out loud the entire time. Say what you're trying to do, what confuses you, and what you expect a thing to do before you touch it.
When you get stuck or don't know what's next, say so out loud — don't quietly push through. Those moments are the most valuable thing I get from this.
Call out anything that felt tense, boring, satisfying, or unfair.
Play the whole run even if you feel loast. Making it to 4am — or failing — is part of it.
Honest reactions help far more than polite ones. Thanks for testing.
