Joint Venture: Prison Commissary Simulator (Playtest v0.1.0)
Joint Venture is a first-person prison commissary simulator with a low-poly, comic-book look. You play an inmate at Las Almas State Penitentiary running the prison store: stock the shelves, serve prisoners at the window, read and enforce the daily rules, deal contraband on the side, and bank enough to start planning an escape.
This build is a 5-day playtest slice. Each in-game day is a timed shift, and after Day 5 the run ends on a wrap-up screen. (The full game keeps going with more days, prisoners, rules, and the escape itself.)
HOW TO PLAY (Windows):
- Unzip the download anywhere and run JointVenture.exe. No Steam account or client is needed.
- Move with WASD, look with the mouse, interact with E or left-click, drop with Q, crouch with Left Ctrl.
- The loop: wake in your cell, start your shift, serve prisoners (put their items on the tray, then charge at the terminal), follow the day's posted rules, clean up messes, order more stock, then end the shift and sleep to advance the day.
- First launch shows a short welcome with what to focus on. Press F8 at any time to send feedback straight to us.
WHAT I AM HOPING YOU WILL TELL ME:
- Does the core 5-day loop stay fun and clear (stocking, serving, charging)?
- Do the daily rules read clearly, and did any fine feel unfair?
- Difficulty and money pressure over 5 days: fair, too tight, or too easy?
- The side systems (contraband, cleaning, ordering stock, upgrades): clear or confusing?
- Anything that felt janky, unclear, or made you want to stop.
Thanks for playing. Your notes really do shape where this goes next.
