[Changing between modes]

This part was tricky and using the numbers confused me the most. I expected to use it more to change weapons only and having the soldier control on number 1 and 2, took me some time to get adjusted. At some point i had troubles switching back into the spear under enemy pressure. I would prefer to have both modes in f1 and f2 separately, as the wheel seems to be imprecise or too sensitive.

[Overall look of the world and theme]

This was one of the most attracting element of the game, rotating the world view in the main menu (incredible feature) motivated me to look around more when playing and even just by following the tutorial gave me a glimpse of a coliseum and a huge statue (showing the size of the map).

The theme is interesting as the warfare and events in this civilization eras has a lot of stories and topics to base the game on.

The unit and player model look detailed and the weapons and armor are accurate for the time setting. I was amazed by the details on the helmet and i want to see more depictions of Hoplites and other armors.

[Games that i think of when playing this one]

AS CREED Odyssey: Due to the theme and flashy combat. The combat in this game was more fluid and "heroic".
Mount and Blade series: Commanding and fighting alongside of troops. In comparison this game can use some of the commands used in battle, as stop firing arrows or change weapons.
Kingdom under fire: I wanted to have somewhat the same mechanic to control units in a top down view like an RTS and then come back to 3rd person, this game is quite old but did this flawlessly.

NOTE: This game can incorporate some of the fluidity, mechanics and fun gameloops from this list.

[Music]

I enjoyed the amount of music and their short but interesting loop, the drum element contrasts well with the warfare elements and screams of the soldiers, this part had a great feel of adventure and heroic rush. The sound of weapons are faithful and synchronized, giving a lot of ambience.

[Fun]

The game proposes interesting additions to the action genre, mixing some strategic concepts. I had fun understanding the mechanics , the tutorial was somewhat easy to follow and gave me a simple look of the game in action. Shooting enemies with the bow at large distance was very satisfying , keeping with their movement and then "one shoting" them.

The jump and thrust of the spear was also cool and i would have liked to see other unique attacks depending on the direction, also being able to pick weapons from the floor and throw them.

The performance was not the best in terms of FPS , i had some stuttering during the test. Changes in resolution didn't improve the issues. So i felt frustrated by this when i couldn't play directly at 60 fps.

[Gameplay and Mechanics]

-I liked having to types of weapons letting me attack the unit from afar or to support my units in close combat. The ranged ability of the spear was an added depth which struck me, i liked using both modes and trying my best to be accurate.

  • Running that fast was so fun and the turning mechanic was so unique that i want to use it more.

  • Fighting the hordes of enemies was not as fun but i can glimpse how the game can be played.
